Review: Harry’s Launches New Skincare Line for Men

We have a lot of favorites here at SPY. Loungewear brands, t-shirt companies, heck, we could even tell you our favorite potted plant company. And when it comes to men’s grooming, one name reigns supreme: Harry’s. Just look at The 2020 Man award; it’s littered with Harry’s gear. So when Harry’s let us know they were debuting a new skincare line for men, we jumped at the chance to review the products.

First, let’s talk about what’s included in Harry’s expanded men’s skincare line, which officially launched on Sunday, July 11. The company was kind enough to send us all four items to review, which include:

  • Freshening Face Toner
  • Brightening Eye Cream
  • Hydrating Night Lotion
  • Targeted Blemish Treatment

Though each product is relatively small (except for the toner), they’re all affordable, without a single product coming in above $10. The line works in conjunction with Harry’s previously available face care products, namely a face wash, face lotion, post-shave balm and post-shave mist. Indeed, it seems Harry’s is planning on taking over the men’s grooming space, and the new skincare line proves yet again that they’re one of the top brands in the space right now.

While Harry’s was originally known as a men’s shaving club, the brand has expanded aggressively in recent years. They’ve launched new hair styling products, deodorant, shampoo and body wash, dandruff treatments and more. If you haven’t already checked out Harry’s razors or their anti-dandruff products, we highly recommend you do so.

But for now, let’s talk Harry’s latest skincare line.

Freshening Face Toner

I’m a big fan of this one. Despite working for a site like SPY, I’m not really big into skincare products. Give me some face wash, some sunscreen and I’m good to go. That said, I’ve grown accustomed to waking up with this toner. It’s the kind of thing that feels just refreshing enough to give you a little extra pep, without feeling overwhelmingly tingly after use. The toner is best after a shower once your mug is fresh and clean. Simply drip some in your hands and then work it around your face. It’s made with witch hazel and niacinamide, sans alcohol. And after just one use, trust us, you’ll feel fresh.

Brightening Eye Cream

Generally speaking, I always look tired. I swear I’m not (usually), I just happen to be born with bags under my eyes. And while Harry’s Brightening Eye Cream hasn’t packed those suckers away for good, I can notice a difference. Like the toner, the eye cream will perk you right up in the morning. The cream is packed with seaweed and algae extracts to help reduce dark circles and puffiness, which I’ve noticed is actually making a difference around my eyes. The brand recommends using morning and night, but I’d recommend a bit of caution before using at night: the stuff is pretty energizing, so you may want to use it as a pick-me-up, and keep it for the morning.

Hydrating Night Lotion

Another thing I’ve never used but have always been curious about is night lotion. It seems like a no-brainer, but alas, I’ve always been too lazy to purchase a bottle. That said, this stuff rules. The lotion is made with shea butter and mint (but, like, in a relaxing way) and isn’t greasy at all, which makes application easy peasy. The move here is to splash your face with water once you’re done brushing your teeth and are getting ready for bed. Then, put a few pumps of this stuff in your hands and work it into your face. To quote the brand right from their press release, “even if you wake up feeling tired, your skin won’t look it.”

Targeted Blemish Treatment

Though I haven’t had to use this yet, I’m glad to have it. The world is opening back up and zits always seem to pop up right before first dates. And if a product can reduce redness without drying out my skin, even just a little bit, I’m all for it. The bottle is tiny on this one, but that’s okay for the price. You’re not going to be using it all that often but damn, you’ll be glad you have it handy when you need it.
